Every day I go to school. I have it in one of the
restaurants called Berlin that is on the ship. Rigley, our caretaker, Ellie,
Guthrie (even though he’s not old enough to go to school), and all the other
kids on the ship are there. When I’m there I do a math sheet or a writing
sheet, make an entrance to my journal, and read a book. After I finish that, I
play with my little brother.
After school I go to Global Studies. It’s a big lecture with
the college students about oceans and different countries we will visit. Every
other day after Global Studies I stay with my mom (B days). The other days I
have to go back to school and do some more work.
Then I have lunch. My favorite things to eat so far on the
ship are pancakes, coco Krispies, and pastries. Usually at meals I sit with my
friend, Finn (age 10 also from Fort Collins). We usually talk about the
Dungeons and Dragons game that we are playing.
In the afternoons I usually play Pokémon or go to the sport
court to play basketball or volleyball or soccer.
I didn’t like this but one time I had to stay up until 9pm
for a lifeboat drill. It was REALLY boring and we weren’t allowed to talk. Last
night I played a game of Dungeons and Dragons with Finn, Owen (my other
friend), Owen’s dad (David), Kai (my other friend), Kai’s dad, and Finn’s dad
(Dungeon Master).
My favorite thing so far about Semester at Sea is being on
the ocean.
My least favorite thing about Semester at Sea was that at
the beginning I puked two times from seasickness. I have my sea legs now!
Sounds like you’re doing great! You’re such a good big brother. Enjoy Hawaii and be sure to write about it.
ReplyDeleteWally: when Dave and I were walking to work this morning, he was telling me about his D&D game. He's been playing with the same group of friends for 20 years. Dave said that he might GM a game for you and other RR kids when you return. BTW, today, I learned that there's a difference between DM and GM. As you know, a DM is a Dungeon Master - a term exclusive to D&D. But a GM is a Game Master and that term is used for any RPG (another new term that I learned today: role playing game). So, maybe you'll want to expand into the RPG world when you return, and if you do, Dave will be a GREAT guide for you. I miss seeing you at RR. I'm glad you'll be back in time to plant pumpkin seeds.
